Hopeless ~Review

"Fuck all the firsts, sky.
The only thing that matters to me
with you are the forevers."

Back of Book:
Sometimes discovering the truth can leave you more hopeless than believing the lies...

That's what seventee-year-old Sky realizes after she meets Dean Holder. A guy with a reputation that rivals her own and an uncanny ability to invoke feeling in her she's never had before. He terrifies her and captivates her all in the span of just one encounter, and something about the way he makes her feel sparks buried memories from a past that she wishes could just stay buried.

Sky struggles to keep him at a distance knowing he's nothing but trouble, but Holder insists on learning everything about her. After finally caving to his unwavering pursuit, Sky soon finds that Holder isn't at all who he's been claiming to be. When the secrets he's been keeping are finally revealed, every single facet of Sky's like will change forever.

When I first saw this book, I was skeptical to read it. Hopeless? Who wants to read a book called Hopeless? That just sounds like I'm looking for a book to make me sad. Regardless, I picked it up because, you know..... it's a Colleen Hoover book and she's my favorite author. With book in hand, I walked up to the register at Barnes and Noble to purchase the book. There was this girl behind the counter and I give her the book to scan. The way her face lit up and how excited she was to tell me that this was her favorite book only solidified for me the idea of reading it. I mean..... how bad could it possible be? It was written by Colleen Hoover!

I am pleased to say that I am hopelessly in love with yet another book of Hoover's.

At this point, you are probably thinking, "Ugh. Another Colleen Hoover book review about how great her character development is. Does this girl say anything else about Colleen Hoover?" The answer: Yes!

Hopeless wasn't what I had expected it to be. I was thinking it would be a gut wrenching, three box of tissue kind of book. Although the big KABOOM! towards the end was a serious matter and had me a bit disturbed..... I wasn't upset. No..... upset/crying Carissa is while reading November 9th. Anyway, I started reading Hopeless and I kinda had a feeling I knew what was going on and BAM! I was right.

The story was so intriguing and made me curious as to what was going one, who was this Holder kid and what was he so worked up about? As the story progressed, things made sense and I was hooked! Another great batch of characters by Hoover. The dynamic between Sky and Holder was one of my favorites! But honestly, the star of this show was the plot. I was on the edge of my seat every second. This was a tiny bit larger than her usual books, which was welcomed! Bring on the drama!

I definitely recommend this book to all. It was an edge of the seat book, a page turning book, and an exciting one! For anyone who loves Hoover as much as I do, this was different that her more recent books. It was a welcomed difference.
