Too Late ~Review

"And that's where love finds you.....
In the tragedies"

Back of book:
Sloan will go through hell and back for her little brother. And she does, every single night.

Forced to remain in a relationship with the dangerous and corrupt Asa Jackson, Sloan will do whatever it takes to make sure her brother has what he needs.

Nothing will get in her way.

Nothing except Carter.

Sloan is the only good thing to ever happen to Asa. He knows this and he never plans on letting her go; even if she doesn't approve of his lifestyle. But despite Sloan's disapproval, Asa knows what it takes to get what he wants. He knows what he needs to do to remain on top.

Nothing will get in his way.

Nothing except Carter.

Do I really even need to do this review? We all know how I feel about Colleen Hoover? She is my favorite author of all time. I love everything she writes. Until I meet a book of hers that is awful, it’s safe to bet I’ll rate her books five out of five.
This book was a little different than all the other ones she has done. It was more action filled, something I could see in a movie. There of course was the romance but the intensity of the story line was heart pounding. I’ve never dislikes/liked a character as much as I did Asa. There were times that I wanted to push him in front of a bus and other times where I couldn’t help but laughing at him. As terrible as he was, I still kinda like him as a character.
Sloan was so strong as a character that I felt like she could do anything. The way she handles herself in every situation is methodical and determined. I was rooting for her every step of the way. “You go girl!” The reasoning for why she was with Asa was sweet and only made me like her more.
Carter was probably my favorite character in this book. Aside from the slight insta-love, I adored him. His chapter were always interesting, seeing the double sides of his life.

I’m a sucker from dual perspective. I love being able to read from both perspectives and get a better understanding as to what is going on with the characters. This book had three perspectives. Yes. Three. One for Carter. One for Sloan. One for Asa. It was the best of all three worlds. It was fantastic being in on some big secret that the other characters were not in on. It only made the book go by faster.

Because of the intensity and fast pace of this book, it is so easy to read through it in one sitting. Although I didn’t actually read it in one sitting. But it was still amazing! I’m sure you guys will enjoy this one.

My Bookish Boyfriends

With Valentines day just around the corner, I'd like to draw attention to my many book boyfriends. Yes you heard me, Book Boyfriends. Mine. All mine.

***Disclaimer: Because there are some of you that will take this the wrong way.
Yes I am fully aware that these men do not exist and that I can't actually have a book boyfriend.
This is all in good fun. Something to lighten the mood on "Singles awareness day" aka Valentines
Day. In no way am I waiting for these characters to become real and sweep me away. Again
This is all in fun. Feel free to reply with your own bookish boyfriends. ****

For convenience, I have categorized the men by genre, if you haven't already fallen in love with them the same as I have, you should pick up the book and embrace the inevitable.

Supernatural:

Patch:
Awe Patch, where do I begin with you? Probably with the fact that you are a freaking fallen angel, and I mean that in the most literal sense. If you haven't read Hush Hush yet, I highly recommend it. Patch is fiery, stubborn, protective, and a little broken. I don't know what it is about broken characters, but I just want to hug them and show them that some people in the world care. I love his name to, it was unique but absolutely perfect for my patchy boyfriend.

Ideal Date: Totally stealing a scene! I'd love to go to an amusement park with Patch.

Will Herondale:
How can you have a book boyfriend list and not include Will? Yes I am aware of the competition for him, but I don't care! Will is the perfect boyfriend, he loves literature, he's funny and quirky, endearing even though he tries not to be. Will is also a bit of a broken character, but I can totally fix that! I mean seriously. I've got you Will, don't worry. Even when he is trying to be a jerk, he is still sweet. Its a loving hate, like a family hate. I love how important his family is to him! He's great boyfriend material for a family.

Ideal Date: A scavanger hunt through different book stores in the city. Yep, I just made up that date but now that I think about it, it sounds really fun!

Jem Carstairs:
Do I even need to explain? Jem is kind, sweet, loving, passionate, compassionate, a gentleman from the very beginning. He's the biggest optimist I have ever know. Through everything, he is positive and upbeat. He loves his friends and would do anything for them, despite their flaws. *cough cough, talking about you Will* Anyway, throughout the whole Infernal Devices Series, I just loved him more and more and I no shame, totally have a crush on Jem.

Ideal Date: I honestly think it would be so much fun to see an opera or a musical with Jem.

Fang:
As one of the first book boyfriends I ever had, I couldn't not include Fang. Maximum Ride was the series that got me into reading, and Fang....He's dark and broody, protective and stoic. Fang is the definition of Tall, Dark, Mysterious, and Handsome. I love Fang. He handles responsibility so well and is a kick ass fighter. I like to talk, so maybe the quiet Fang is a perfect match for me, I'll always have a listener. Unlike Max, I can damsel really well and Fang is the perfect night in normal clothed armor.

Ideal Date: Skydiving. Obviously I won't have a parachute, I have all my faith in Fang.

Contemporary:

Will Cooper:
If you've read Slammed you totally know what I'm talking about when I say Will and I are dating. Out of all my book boyfriends, Will is my favorite. Not going to lie. Will is responsible, romantic, funny, creative, hot, perfect, into literature. There are so many things about Will that I love and adore. Yeah, Lake was kinda his lobster, but I would jump at the chance to be with Will in real life. He is fantastic with kids and he is completely stable, he has no broken pieces like so many other characters.

Ideal Date: Slam Poetry. Duh. I want a slam about me. Forget your Lake, go for Carissa!

Simon Parker:
.
.
.
I don't know how to describe my relationship with Simon other than steamy and hot. I love Simon Parker so much! He's beyond attractive and.... HE'S A PHOTOGRAPHER, like me! Go read Wallbanger and you'll understand why Simon is my book boyfriend.

Ideal Date: I think Simon and I would have a lot of fun going some place exotic and taking pictures. 2 Photographers, would could go wrong?!

Ben:
Ignoring the ending all together, cause I'm conflicted about it, I'm Dating Ben from before the Fourth November 9th. Ben doesn't exist to me after the Fourth one. First through Third Ben, is freaking hilarious! He is goofy and funny while being sweet and cute. Humor in a relationship is a much, and Ben has it all, he crazy hair, the love of literature. First through Third  Ben just makes me smile and a little giddy. My life is better with First through Third  Ben. We broke up after the Third November 9th.

Ideal Date: I feel like going to a museum with Ben would be hilarious. I'm sure he would have all kinds of silly comments.

Cricket:
Though I do love Lola and Cricket together, I love this guy. He is so awkward and adorable that I can't help but love him. His outfits are posh and a little ridiculous, but its endearing. He's beyond creative and I have no doubt he'll be cooking up some great ideas for us to do in the future/use in the future. I also love how supportive Cricket is when it comes to family and friends and helping them achieve their dreams. He's also totally chill. He isn't high strung or too intense, he is very laid back and go with the flow.

Ideal Date: Cricket and I are totally going to go sledding. It's going to be a lot of fun!

The Bad Boys:

Noah:
This is my favorite book, how can I not mention my Noah? Now Noah doesn't make the greatest decisions, he is a little bit frazzled. He does smoke and drink, which I'm not really into. But the way he cares and loves for family and friends is so endearing. I love that about him. His love burns in a fiery passion and it's a little intense, though he is respectful. He works hard for what he wants and he doesn't give up. I feel determination is an important characteristic in someone. I love Noah, so much.

Ideal Date: I can't chose one. I kinda just want to steal some of my favorite scenes.... Which I won't spoil for you.

Hayden:
Much like Simon Parker, my relationship with Hayden is hard to explain. I LOVE Hayden. He is hot, tattooed, pierced. Which I was never attracted to before Hayden, but now I am all for tatts and piercing. Hayden is a very broken character one that is haunted by his past and it often gets in the way of his real life. Buuttt.... all that aside. I love him. He's obsessed with cupcakes, I love baking cupcakes, I feel like it is a match made in heaven. Plus Hayden is just super super hot and sexy! Love Hayden!

Ideal Date: Hayden isn't a movie date kind of guy. I like it would be really fun to do one of those "Escape the Room" mystery game thing together.

Reed Royal:
I just finished Paper Princess, and am hesitant to add Reed into my bookish boyfriends, especially after the ending. But I have high hopes that Broken Prince, will be promising in making me love Reed even more. Reed is hot, muscular, dark, brooding, a little rude. But he's protective and can be sweet. His opinion is very important to those in the Royal's world. He's kind of a jerk, but I think I like that about him. He is stubborn and extremely broken, but that's okay. We can work through his rubble together.

Ideal Date: Where does one even go on a date with Reed Royal? I think boating would be a fun date if it was just the two of us.

Honorable Mentions:

The following characters are ones that I loved but am just too happy with who they ended up with that I couldn't take them away from the OTP.

Ridge from Maybe Someday

Etienne St. Clair from Anna and the French Kiss

Jase Garret from My Life Next Door

Braden from On the Fence

Gabe from The Boy Next Door

Inked Armor ~Review

"She'd found a way between
the cracks in my armor and
blew it apart.
I wanted to have the same
effect on her."

Back of Book:

In this follow-up to Clipped Wings, the emotional love story continues between Hayden and Tenley; two young people who desperately want to love and be loved but are afraid to completely let go of their pasts.

In the wake of losing Tenley Page, tattooist Hayden Stryker's tumultuous past is haunting him. Plagued by nightmares about the murder of his parents, Hayden reaches out again to Tenley. Having run from the man she doesn't believe she deserves, Tenley finally lays her guilt to rest. Despite their intense physical attraction, Hayden and Tenley struggle to repair their fragile emotional connection. As Hayden gets closer to the truth, he must find a way to reconcile his guilt over his parents' death in order to keep the woman who finally cracked his armor, and found her way into his heart.

As soon as I finished the audio book for Clipped Wings, I bought this one on audio and started it. Boy am I so glad that I did. This book was just as if not more intense than the first book. In the first one we saw more of Tenley’s story….. we finish up with Tenley drama and enter Hayden drama.
Hayden’s story was a mystery that was a little like playing detective. I had a feeling who did it but I was still shocked to find out the truth. I loved this one probably just a little more than the first one. Getting to see the dark sides of Hayden was….let’s face it. Sexy! I love Hayden. He’s my new #1 book boyfriend. When you read this, you’ll understand my feels for Hayden. ;)

I think if I had to chose between this one and the first one, Inked Armor, would be the winner. I just loved the way this book kept me second guessing who done it. The entire time I was listening to this, I was trying to figure out what happened and who all was involved. I was mostly correct in the end, just missing a few key players.
As I mentioned above, I listened to this on audio. The voice of Hayden just matched his looks, as I was listening, the voice gave me goosebumps. Audible has the best voice overs. This was a fast paced book. I not once felt like it was dragging on. It was always enthralling. Most of the time I lost track of time. Hunting does an incredible job of sucking you into the story and holding you hostage.

This book is a must read if you are looking for a hot a little on the sexy side. I loved it! Ten stars all the way around!
