The Wrong Side of Right ~Review

"It's amazing how much one person
can change the world,
even if they don't know
they're doing it."

Back of Book:
Kate Quinn’s mom died last year, leaving Kate parentless and reeling. So when the unexpected shows up in her living room, Kate must confront another reality she never thought possible—or thought of at all. Kate does have a father. He’s a powerful politician. And he’s running for U.S. President. Suddenly, Kate’s moving in with a family she never knew she had, joining a campaign in support of a man she hardly knows, and falling for a rebellious boy who may not have the purest motives. This is Kate’s new life. But who is Kate? When what she truly believes flies in the face of the campaign’s talking points, she must decide. Does she turn to the family she barely knows, the boy she knows but doesn’t necessarily trust, or face a third, even scarier option?

Forbidden romance on the campaign trail..... yes please. I'm not a big fan of politics. It causes to much fighting in real life so I tend to stay clear. I read this in the middle of the campaigning for the 2016 election. This was a nice break from reality.

It was a new spin on the classic, Romeo and Juliet, forbidden love. You have two character from the opposing party that start to fall for each other. Politics aside for a moment, I loved Kate. She was thrown into this new world when she finds out her father in one of the candidates. She grew up without him so it was interesting to see how she reacted to the sudden change.

My one critique of this book is that Kate's father was pretty distasteful. I understand that he was busy with the campaign and not all there for not only Kate but his wife and other children either, but come on..... He could have put a little effort into it.

Aside from that, I did still love the book. I got the cover with the flag on it and I thought it was pretty cute. I would recommend this book if you are looking for something a little more light.

I did enjoy the little romance that was going on, though honestly most of the time I was a little skeptical. Though towards the end of the book, I did enjoy it a little more. I am happy with how it ended and I think it was summed up perfectly. I didn't feel empty once I finished it. There are some books that I just want more and more, but this wasn't one of them

Pucked ~Review

"He's got it bad for my boobs.
He asked them out on the date,
not me."

Back of Book:
With a famous NHL player for a step-brother, Violet Hall is well acquainted with the playboy reputation many hockey stars come with. She’s smart enough to steer clear of those hot, well-built boys with unparalleled stamina. That is until she meets the legendary team captain—Alex Waters.

Violet isn’t interested in his pretty, beat-up face, or his rock-hard six-pack abs. But when Alex inadvertently obliterates Violet’s previous misapprehension regarding the inferior intellect of hockey players, he becomes more than just a hot body with a face to match.

In what can only be considered a complete lapse in judgment, Violet finds out just how good Alex is with the hockey stick in his pants. But what starts out as a one-night stand, quickly turns into something more. Post-night of orgasmic magic, Alex starts to call, and text, and e-mail and send extravagant—and quirky—gifts, making him difficult to ignore, and even more difficult not to like.

The problem is, the media portrays Alex as a total player, and Violet doesn’t want to be part of the game.

O.M.G. If you are looking for something a little more on the steamy side while still being funny and light... THIS IS THE BOOK FOR YOU! I listened to this on audiobook and adored it. The voices were pretty great and Alex's voice actor, Nathan Everett was fabulous!

Helena Hunting scores again! She is quickly becoming one of my favorite authors. So far, I've only listened to her books, but this makes four. If anything, her books are the perfect ounces to listen to. They are funny and steady while still having a serious plot line to it. If you haven't already, I recommend Hunting to everyone.

Alex may be with Violet, but I totally like to think he is dating me.... Yes, you heard me right. I am dating Alex Waters. (In my dreams). For once, Alex wasn't a messed up, broken character. No no no. He was strong and funny and his accent! Looooove it!

The story was perfect, a hot hockey player, a cute stepsister to a teammate. You can only imagine the tension between Alex and big protective stepbrother. Hunting captured the tension perfectly! Every moment had me smiling.
I definitely recommend Pucked. If not this book, then I recommend you pick up Hunting in general! She is one of my favorites, just behind Colleen Hoover, and we all know how much I love her!
